Hanging in loading setup files

I am trying to install XP Pro on a machine, the drive is
formatted (NTFS). It is a fresh install of XP Pro. It
keeps "hanging" on the loading setup files. 15%, 17%,
49%, etc. I have to start over each time. I did make it
once to the next screen and it hung up there. It is
really being a pain in the keyster. Any help or
suggestions would very much be appreciated. Thank you.

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

There are no other peripherals attached, but monitor,
nouse, and keyboard. I had read that solution, but it
never gets that far. Thanks for that suggestion! Are
there any other ideas?
