hacked

I have a friend whom was hacked apparently. She now
cannot get her system to boot up. It would appear her
boot up files are now gone.

Any suggestions?

Do a repair install of Windows XP

Hi Lauraley,

Have your friend boot the WinXP CD, load the Recovery Console. From the
command prompt, run bootcfg /rebuild.

I would suggest that if they have a bootable AV CD or floppy disk set, that
they run this first to remove any boot sector viruses.
