GSA-4081B and Windows XP Problem

The GSA-4081B DVD+RW drive gave me a tremendous amount of trouble
recognizing DVD+/-RW discs with Windows XP. I swapped a LiteOn 1673
into XP and the system was stable.

I put the LG burner 4081B into a Windows Server 2003 box and the drive
is working fine.

So, what gives with the Drivers in WindowsXP that make the drive fail?

Am I the only one seeing this problem? I have read lots of posts from
people having trouble with the GSA-4081B around Midyear 2004. Is it
because that's when they started upgrading to XP???

You may need to update/upgrade your burning software, the drives firmware my
need an update as well..Is the BIOS in the offending computer up to date..?
All drivers updated from the OEM for the computer in question..? SP2 was a
major XP upgrade and in some cases may have adversely affected some third
party hardware and software, which might need to be updated or upgraded to
resolve any resulting compatibility issues...My opinion..

Check for the latest firmware for the drive.

Check of the latest available update for the DVD burning software. Windows
XP only can do CDs natively. I believe MS had stated that the next version
of Windows will support DVD creation natively and it may have made it into
Windows Server 2003.

Also note that Windows Server 2003 is more advanced than XP and is more
secure than it also.
