Greyed out stand by button

I formatted a computer and reinstalled windows xp pro and was checking it and
the stand by buttom was greyed. Installed sp2 and it was there. Got rid of
sp2 becuase it was causing problems and now again the stand by button is
greyed out. Is there a driver or something that could be easily installed
missing? Is there some setting somewhere that I haven't found yet that will
fix this? I read the other comments about this and I wonder if it's the same
thing. Any insight into this would be highly appreciated

Update your video driver.Visit the manufacturer's site to download and
install the latest video driver to fix the issue.

Hi,

It's not SP2 that is causing the problem, it's the lack of proper driver
support. One or more system drivers are using Windows-supplied defaults and
need to be upgraded to the manufacturer's full versions. Start with video,
as these are the most frequent offenders followed by sound and nic's.
