Hey guys,

This seems to be a fairly common problem. Spoken to quite a few people now and read a lot of threads/posts but still haven't solved the problem.

I've reset my friends desktop pc to factory default. The basic specs are;

Time computer Running Windows ME (millenium)
AMD Processor
504 MB ram

All went well except the display options won't let me go above 16 colours (or 640 by 480 screen area). I've tried reducing the hardware acceleration and updating the graphics adapter drivers with some that looked like they came with the PC. I'm guessing that I need to update the drivers but without knowing the manufacturer its fairly hit and miss;

Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)
MANUFACTURER: (standard display types)
Software Version: 4.0
Current Files: vga.drv, *vdd

Any ideas on how I can increase the screen resolution/colours or find the adapter manufacturer/driver details?

Cheers

Dan

WinME will do something that previous Windows did not ... no matter what CD you put in, it would still search, and if found, load the correct drivers.

Mind you, it got annoying going through 40 CDs to find num 38 had the drivers I needed. :D

Try this program ... http://www.gtopala.com/

It may save you "popping in" 40 CDs ... yes, I have that many, all with graphics drivers, all bloody different. :nod:

Cheers for that muckshifter,

That SIW program is excellent. I think the make of the graphics adapter is TRIDENT using a BLADE 3D driver. I've managed to find the driver on a few websites but they all limk to chinese language sites for the download.

Even if I do manage to download the driver will it solve my problem?

The SIW program currently states that the graphics adapter is not configured for 'VideoMode'.

Any more advice or suggestions would be great.

Cheers again

All video cards need their drivers ... ;)

I dunno where you were looking for them, bit my first "hit" was ... Here ... but I have to say, this is for a Laptop, it should still work for all.

However, there are a few more ... the last one is the one I used to loose. ;)

Try 'em, WinME should not install them if they are not correct. :thumb:
