Need driver for graphics card that supports wide screen (1600x1050

Hello,

I have a wide screen with native resolution 1600x1050 and I am looking for a
driver for my graphics card that supports this mode. I have already searched
the manufacturers' webpage with no success, and now I am wondering whether
Windows XP has a standard graphics driver that would work with my graphics
card and support wide screen format. I have a SiS630 onboard graphics adapter
and I am running Windows XP Professional. I would be very happy if someone
could offer a solution to my problem. Thanks in advance!

Have you right clicked an empty spot on the
desktop..properties..settings...advanced..adaptor...list all modes????

That particular chipset is about 4 years old and as such it might not
support a wide screen resolution ...you just might need to purchase a Video
Card for your system.I believe the SiS 630 chipset will take an AGP Video
Card.
This is the latest driver I was able to locate and it also is 3 years old

This suggests the DAC bandwidth is sufficient for the job.

"It can also support high resolution graphics modes up to 1900x1200 at 80Hz"

SIS offers some advice here.

I'd start with Moninfo, and see if the new monitor is giving its EDID
info to the computer. If not, I would search for a "monitor driver",
which basically is a tiny file containing info about maximum (native)
resolution of the new monitor. My NEC LCD had a monitor driver available
for download. An LCD TV may not have that kind of driver file available.

Updating the built-in graphics driver would be further down my list,
and so far, I haven't seen anything that looks like release
notes for the sis.com drivers.
