Gotta love that Big Blue Screen

Hi all,
I'm really stuck. I've got a Packard Bell Win XP Home (SP2) computer
that I've been plenty of problems with lately. Problems started when I
was installing and uninstalling some software and then I got stuck in a
reboot cycle. Good news is, I can boot into safe mode and access stuff
from there.

While in safe mode, I switched off the automatic restart on system
error which got me straight to that lovely big blue error screen giving
me the error message
"STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF7939078, 0xF78EEA80, 0xF78EE77C)"

Even better news is that, since it's a Packard Bell Computer, it didn't
come with any XP installation disks, instead having this on a
partition.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do? How can I get to the Recovery
Program from safe mode to perform a fresh install of Windows?
Destructive or Non-Destructive??

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it
I'm dying here!!!

Normally Packard Bell computers would be suppled with restore disks.

This contains the Windows operating system and when run it returns the
system to its "as bought" state. You will lose any personal information or
programmes you have added and stored on the drive if you do this.

They restore disks should be bootable as well - so they can be run from
startup.

Just make sure the BIOS is set to read the relevant CD drive before the hard
drive when it boots up.

I am going through that same situation with my sister-in-law's PC. The quick
explanation is that the OEM approach since 2003 (at least with HP) has been
to load all of the recovery routines in a separate partition on Drive C: and
provide you with "zip" in terms of physical recovery media. If the automatic
recovery process fails, or is inappropriate, HP gives you -- ONE -- chance at
creating a physical set of recovery CD's... this link expains the process,
which is what you should look for on your vendor's website:

Which is a good indication that it is a s/w issue since you can start in
safe mode.

Did you google....

Most likely a driver or something the s/w you installed updated/broke.
