GoBack by Roxio (solution to non boot)

If anyone is unable to boot after installing GoBack (included with Norton
System Works) DO NOT reformat your system!!!

If this problem arose after rebooting to complete the install of GoBack,
there is an easy fix that many people do not know about. Just after the
system BIOS loading screen (and just before where the GoBack loading screen
would appear) you can press CRTL-ALT-G. Beware, the timing is rather finickey
and it may take several tries. A prompt will ask you if you want to unhook
GoBack from the MBR (or the boot record or registry or something like that).
Press whatever button it quotes to do so. Now reboot. Windows should load and
GoBack will warn you that it has been unhooked, you should ignore this. It
may be a good idea to uninstall GoBack from your system to avert this near
disaster.

I did some digging in the Roxio help page (which was mostly ofline at the
time) and discovered that there is an issue with a few motherboards and BIOS
setups that conflict with GoBack's Bios-like nature resulting in the system
not recognizing the MBR. Most tech support guys recommend reformatting the
system as they do not know how to deal with this problem.

Hope I helped somebody, I know I was worried sick....

I've been using GoBack for about 4 years now, on Win98 and now XP, with no
problems. It has saved my butt many times. Couldn't/wouldn't live without
it.
