glitch with signature(?) that I can reproduce

D

Dave Horne

My wife and I each have our own e-mail account, mine is the default account
and only I have a signature.

My wife starts to compose a new e-mail message and by default my blank new
message is what greets her. She first deletes my signature and then
composes her e-mail (while still using my account). When she changes the
Account to reflect her return e-mail address, everything she has typed
disappears.

She has encountered this behavior several times and I just reproduced it
myself. A known glitch ... or is this something I don't fully understand?

Thanks, Dave Horne .... Outlook 2007 / Vista Home Premium

Both of you are typing in the signature area. Changing signatures replaces the existing signature.

If you put a line with two hypens on it at the beginning of your signature, that should be easier to avoid.

Better yet, use separate mail profiles each with a signature linked to the user's account.

Sue, thanks for the info. I created a work-around. I made my wife the
Default account since she doesn't use a Signature. Not the ideal solution
but it works .... and it keeps her happy.

Sue, I just now by accident deleted everything I typed simply because I
clicked on my name under Send (or whatever). While I understand your
explanation, it's too bad there's not an Undo function in Outlook 2007.
While this may not be a glitch per se, it's a pain nonetheless.

Sue, thanks! I'd forgotten about CTRL + Z.

Undo works fine, both from the button in the QAT and with Ctrl+Z.
