E-mail Signatures

Guest

I created an e-mail signature for an e-mail account other than my default
e-mail account. The problem with this, it seems, is that the signature does
not appear when I compose an e-mail (except in replies and forwards), even
when I change the "Accounts" tab at the top of the compose e-mail window to
the relevant non-default e-mail account. Does anyone know how to fix this
problem without having to change your default e-mail account?

Thanks,
Alex

YOu need to assign a default signature to your accounts in order for them to show when you select it. Depending on your version (which you conveniently left out) it will appear somewhere under the mail format tab.

Sorry, Milly. I'm using OUtlook 2003. How would I assign a default
signature to this account?

Much thanks,
Alex

Tools->Options->Mail Format->Signatures-> assign the account signature using the dropdown for Email Accounts.

That's exactly what I did when I set up the signature. However, when I
compose a new message and change "Accounts" (dropdown in the toolbar) from my
default account to the account to which the signature has been assigned, I
get nothing (except when I'm replying to or forward a message from that
account). Any ideas?

Thanks,
Alex

Then you have not assigned a signature to your default account, you assigned it to the non-default account from your description.

That's correct. Just to make sure I'm clear, I have one default account and
three other ("non-default") accounts. I created a signature and assigned it
to one of the non-default accounts. My default account and the two other
non-default accounts do not have signatures assigned to them.

When I try to compose a new message and change "Accounts" (dropdown in the
toolbar) from my default account to the account to which the signature has
been assigned, no signature appears (except when I'm replying to or forward a
message from that account). How do I resolve this?

Thanks,

In case it hasn't been clear, I do not want my default account to have a
signature. I only want this one non-default account to have a signature.
Are you telling me that Outlook isn't capable of doing this?

Alex,

I've tried to use Signatures on Outlook 2003 for the first time today, and
shared your pain! This seems to have worked for me:

1. Delete all existing signatures from the Signature folder.
2. Create the Signature for your Default account , and assign it to the
Default account.
3. Create & assign Signatures for other Accounts after you have completed
the Default account.

Although I have not seen it in Outlook/MS help, it seems that:

a. In order to assign a signature to your non-Default accounts, you must
also assign a signature to your Default account .
b. You have to create and assign the Default account before starting on the
non-Default accounts.

Hope it works for you.

Regards

Peter

So I guess we've given up on this? Milly or anyone else out there besides

I created and assigned a new "Signature #2" to my default account but am
still unable to get "Signature #1" to appear in my non-default account.

To do what you want, you MUST assign a signature to your default account.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Alex asked:

| have a signature. I only want this one non-default account to have a

||
||| That's correct. Just to make sure I'm clear, I have one default
||| account and three other ("non-default") accounts. I created a
||| signature and assigned it to one of the non-default accounts. My
||| default account and the two other non-default accounts do not have
||| signatures assigned to them.
|||
||| When I try to compose a new message and change "Accounts" (dropdown
||| in the toolbar) from my default account to the account to which the
||| signature has been assigned, no signature appears (except when I'm
||| replying to or forward a message from that account). How do I
||| resolve this?
|||
|||

|||||||| YOu need to assign a default signature to your accounts in

True.

I hadn't noticed this, but if you have found this to be true in your
experimenting, your posting of the finding is appreciated.
