XP Home SP3... Three times now I have gone out of town and before
leaving I did a complete Shutdown (not Restart)
Each time the computer restarted itself sometime while I was gone.
It happened again today... I then used Logmein to check and sure enough
it was up and running.

Any ideas?

This has nothing to do with Windows (because Windows is
dead when the PC is turned off). Check your BIOS and read
the motherboard manual. It probably has a time-triggered
auto-start facility.

Have you checked the computer's BIOS and disabled all of the remote
boot options, such as Boot-on-LAN, Boot-on-Ring, and/or Boot-on-PXE?

When I go out of town my computers are completely unplugged. No power, no
phone line etc.

If your BIOS does not have the options mentioned in the two earlier posts to
your question, then shut off your Cable/DSL modem when you go on an extended
leave.
