Programs Will Not End On Restart Of XP

I have an intermittent problem with a Thinkpad SL500 that's about two weeks
old running XP sp3. About every other or every third time I try to do a
restart, three programs will not end automatically. The programs are Message
Center, kmw_run.exe and explorer.exe. kmw_run.exe is a program related to
Kensington Mouse Works that I installed.

When this problem occurs, it is always these three programs in the order
listed. I can end the programs manually and the computer will shut down and
restart and boot up normally. This problem never occurs when I do a shut
down, just on a restart. I've installed UHClean, which helped some, as before
UHC, this was happening on every restart. I've looked at the event log and
cannot identify what might be causing this.

If I need to attached the event log, please advise how to do this with the
details. When I export the events log, it only lists the events not the
details.

Start by removing Message Center and the Mouse Works program from your
Startup. Message Center is a utility from Lenovo that you don't need running
in the background. You may not need the Mouse Works program running either,
or you may need to get updated drivers.
