I'm using Norton Systemworks 2003 and it says I have a
corrupt index.dat file. I emailed symantec and this was
their response:
"Because there is no method for restarting Windows
NT/2000/XP to a DOS command line, this situation is more
complex for those operating systems. Without the ability
to start in DOS, the operating system maintains the file
in an "open" state, preventing its deletion. For this
reason, contact Microsoft customer support for assistance
in removing the Index.dat file in Windows 2000, Windows
NT, and Windows XP."

Can anybody help me??????

Log off from your current userid and log on as Administrator;
then you should be able to delete the original userid's
index.dat file.

Log on to the system as a different user and then delete the index.dat
file thats the problem.
