Getting the @ symbol in windows mail

For some reason when I type the @ symbol in Windows Mail, I get a quotation "
instead. Anyone know why??

You have your keyboard set to use English US (if such a language exists?)
Change it to English UK, at control panel>classic view [top left]>regional &
language.
