getting rid of cool search as default browser home page

R

rf

Recently, without me doing anything consciously,
coolsearch.com appeared as my default home page for my
Explorer browser and I can't get rid of it despite trying
everything in terms of changing defaults etc. Any
suggestions?

This is caused by parasites.
First priority: Download CWShredder and run it.

joby,

I'm not sure that the usual tools can remove coolsearch, but try it this
way...
Download, update and run Spybot - Search & Destroy from
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd Remove items listed
in red.

If unsuccessful, then download and run CWShredder from
http://www.merijn.org/downloads.html

If still plagued by coolsearch, the go to "HijackThis Quick Start"
http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ Read about HijackThis. Download HijackThis and
post a log to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal Support" forum at
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ (Include coolsearch or cool-search in the
topic title)

The experts there will help you clean this up.

Go to http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm for security tips. Visit
Windows Update- look for critical updates.

Hope this helps,
Don
