My old desktop, with XP home, died so I installed the HD on the new dekstop,
with XP home, to recover files. How do I get past the password I had on my
files so I can use them. I get "Access denied" when I go looking in windows
explorer.

Thank you for the links, 308421 worked, kind of!! I am the only user, (aside
from the guest user XP creates) but when I go to safe mode, there is me as a
user plus an Administrator?? The Admin can access the folder and claim
ownership, and as such I examined the data and it is still all there. But if
I sign on in safe mode as me I am denied access. Why is there an Admin
seperate from me in safe mode?
