Getting on internet

This is another problem I'm having. I can get on after a couple tries, but
never on the first or second. A window comes up that says (in blue words)
"internet explorer cannot display this webpage". Again, I don't know much
about computer lingo...Thanks ahead of time for all help!!!

I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. See this

Note that the Reset IE Settings button will delete AutoComplete date (such
as passwords.) Do you have those backed up?

3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

First of all I would try to see if it´s a application or network problem.
Try to ping a site
http://usertools.plus.net/tutorials/id/34
If the ping fails have a look at your network (also physical) and your
security software.
