Getting MSIZAP.EXE despite a stuck Windows Installer

Hi all,

I have a problem with Windows Installer, using Vista Ultimate... My PC
crashed during an install, and now I can't use Windows Installer: I always
get an error code 1500 'An install is already in progress'. So I can not
install or remove *any* program that uses Windows Installer (e.g. the
latest Service Pack for Visual Studio 2005, the VPN software I need to
connect to the office, etc).

I learnt about the MSIZAP.EXE utility
(http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370523.aspx), and would like to
give it a try. So I downloaded the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301), but the problem is that I can't
install it! If I could, I would not need it in the first place!

How can I get this MSIZAP.EXE file? I need version 3.1.4000.2726 or
greater.

Thanks for your help. This is driving me nuts...

I tried to install Windows Installer CleanUp Utility onto another machine,
and copy the MSIZAP.EXE file, but only to get an error:

U:\bin\win32>msizap.exe
The system cannot find the file U:\bin\win32\msizap.exe.

I checked that this program does only require DLLs that I have on my PC...
What can I try next?

Thanks.
