Hello All

The job issued me a new computer with XP Pro. I use win 98 on my home
machine. (I sure do wixh MS would stop monkeying this stuff and making us
relearn everything everytime it issues another OP. Can't they get even ONE
to 100 right?)

Anyway, I am trying to get the explorer bar - files - to stick when I open
folder. But it reverts back to that other thing every time, even though I
tell all folders to look like this. I see a think about group practices or
something, which I've enabled, then disabledwith no help. How to I get the
folders view to stick. Frustrating. I want to work and not mess with enless
computer options.

Thanks!

Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View, then "Like Current Folder". Depending on
your likings, you may also need to check or uncheck "Remember each folder's
view settings"

If you want folders to default to 'explore' rather than 'open' so that the folder pane is showing,
do the following:

Folder Options -> File Types -> hilite 'Folder' -> 'Advanced' button -> hilite 'explore' -> click
'Set Default'

Thanks Dave .... but I tried that, and it doesn't stick. the next time I
open, I get the same Status Bar instead of Explorer bar!

Thanks Kelly.

Keith's solution worked. Tired the Task Bar Repair tool, which didn't seem
to apply to the problem I had. Thanks again though!

You question is vague but you seem to be looking for this. Try editing the
shortcut's "Target" to read;
%systemroot%\explorer.exe /e,C:\
Where C:\ is the drive or directory you wish to expand.

Went to a Chinese "all you can eat" buffet for dinner the other day.
They had "baby lobsters" as one of the dishes.

Of course, you know what they really were,,,, Mudbugs :)
