Explorer Bar view won't stick...

I can't get my "explorer bar" view choice to stick on a folder...

i basically want all folders to come up with the "explorer
bar-->folders" view checked... which is the tree-hierachy view on the
left panel...

but i can't seem to get this to stick at all... even when i apply the
folder view to all folders...

can anyone help me figure this out? in the general properties for
folder options, i have two choices: "show common tasks" or "classic
view" ... common tasks gives me, well, common tasks on the left....
classic view gives me NO left hand info...

i can always go to view-->explorer bar-->folders to set it up manually
each time i open a folder, but this is non-optimal for obvious
reasons....

any advice?

Create a new shortcut and point it here:
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
Explorer will now open in the my documents folder with the tree view on the
left.

If you want to choose which folder explorer opens in create a new shortcut
and point it here:
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e,C:\
This will open in the c:\ folder, put any path you want after the /e,

My Documents>Tools (menu bar)>Folder Options>General tab. Select "Show
common tasks in folders." If "Apply" button is available, click on it.
Then, if the Folders tree is not showing in left pane, click on
Folders to bring it up. Then back to Folder Options dialog box, choose
View tab, down in the Advanced Settings section, make sure that the
"Remember each folder's view settings" box is checked. Then, up in
Folder Views area, click on Apply to All Folders. O.K.

Have Fun!

Scott,

Open folders in Windows Explorer mode by default (i.e. with folder pane enabled):

Open My Computer window.
Click Tools, Folder Options, then click File Types.
From the list, locate the entry FOLDER with extension of (NONE).
Click Advanced, select Explore, then Set Default.
Click OK and close the dialog.
