Windows Explorer.........Explorer bar

B

bc

When "View", "Explorer Bar", "Folders" is selected, the display shows the
split screen with the higher level directories in the left pane. This is
desirable and I wish to keep it.

After closing and reopening Explorer, the "Folders" selection is found to be
unchecked and must be selected manually.

This issue is only found on the latest version of XP. The older machine
would not automatically revert.

Any way around this..........or is Explorer going to dictate my preferences?

Thanks.

Right click the folder icon and select "Explore" instead of "Open" on
the context menu. Works with the task bar "start" button and "My
Computer" too.

Where you're using a shortcut (unless they're turned off they have the
little arrow in the corner) you can modify the shortcut's "Target:"
field to call up Windows Explorer. Read Microsoft Knowledgebase article
307856 titled "How To Customize the Windows Explorer Views in Windows
XP" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307856/en-us . See the third example
using the "/e" switch.

Another option would be (assuming you've added a shortcut to Windows
Explorer to your Quick Launch toolbar or to your Desktop) to right-click on
the Explorer icon. select Properties, and change the "Target" entry to
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.scf

That also works perfectly.

Thank you very much for your helpful advice.
