When I set up XP originally the login prompt didn't appear and I could
switch on and come back in a minute or two and everything was booted up and
ready to go. Since installing SP1 I now get a login screen with only one
choice - myself.
I dont use a password so how can I return it to automatically starting up
wityhout the prompt?

Hi

Try this:

From Start>Run type in

control userpasswords2

then uncheck 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer' and click 'Apply'. On the next screen - 'Automatically Log On' -
delete the name 'Administrator' from the User name box and enter your
account name and then the password in the next two boxes. OK your way out
and then reboot your system.

Or you can use Tweak UI:

You can download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when
installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to
Logon>Autologon.

You installed the .NET framework. Using TweakUI, select the logon item,
and UNCHECK the "Show ASP.NET on the welcome screen". Behaviour will
revert to autologon if only one account is installed and it has no
password.
