Some people 'may' have a problem with validation, most won't.

So? Does that mean that its right, especially considering that
validation does nothing useful for the end user?

And Some people already HAVE had problems with Validation, so you can
just change your statement to "Some people 'WILL' have a problem with
validation," Will.

"Trustworthy Computing" is only another example of an Oxymoron!
"Produkt-Aktivierung macht frei"

No, I'm not going to change my statement. Some people may not like the idea
of validation - for various reasons!!

Yeah, I didn't think you would. But the statement with "WILL" in it is
more accurate. But since you prefer "MAY," I'll just start calling you
May Denny. ;-)

The most logical reason is that it is useless PITA.

I didn't have a problem, but microsoft said I could.

Odd windows genuine validation message

[The scan of your computer has completed. The Windows product key
associated with your copy of Windows maps to one of the major PC
manufacturers who purchase Windows product keys from Microsoft. The
specific product key found on your computer maps to a major PC
manufacturer that sells different hardware than the hardware found on
your machine. This will not prevent you from validating now, but may
cause you problems in the future. Please click Continue to complete
the validation process.]

Hi

If certain people decide to block AtiveX downloads, then that's up to them.
They won't be to access various web sites/pages.

You are suggesting that only Windows clients can access various web sites/pages.

That is not my experience, and anyway, a web page that tries to exclude MS competitor clients is not worth reading.

I an not opposed at all to Validation. I am adamantly opposed to
Activation.

Say I have a pirated activation free copy of XP Pro running. Say I have
in my hand a purchased, legit OEM copy of XP Pro with a valid unique
key.

Can I somehow enter this key and download updates?
