I like to download hotfixes and patches as well as allowing WU to install
them.
I run XP Pro SP2.
However, whenever I try to use the Windows Genuine Advantage method to try
to download the hotfix/patch files the Windows check program (that I have
just downloaded from the Genuine Advantage website) fails with the following
message:
<quote>
"This version of the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation tool is longer
supported. Please download the newest version and ensure your system clock
is accurate.
<end quote>
The version I downloaded today is V1.0.0132.4 so it is the latest version
I have a utility that runs each time I log on to the net that updates the
system clock from a time server so my clock isn't wrong...
When I go to this site:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/ww/windows/default.mspx and run
the validation tool there it works as expected, but when I go to this
website:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...1c-79f0-443b-ac96-8b5dca23f395&displayLang=en I
get the above message so cannot download the files unless I bypass the
validation process altogether....
Also in IE Tools/Manage Add ons the Genuine Advantage Active X Control wont
update. It either says there is no update available or says the update
failed....
Anyone got any idea's why this happens and how I can fix it?
