Genuine Advantage Bug

The Windows Genuine Advantage add-in can be disabled by allowing it to first
install correctly. After that, open Regedit, search on "Windows Genuine
Advantage Validation Tool" and find its AppID key, usually the first thing
found. Put an invalid filename in the InProcServer32 key; for instance, just
tack a .bak at the end of the dll name. Windows Update should work after
that.

Or you could just turn it off from within IE's Internet Options.

Not any more. The new and improved WGA grays that option out and says it
is managed by "your administrator" but if you go into the Administrator
account, it's still grayed out.
