Generic Host Windows 32

My Zone Alarm firewall often reports that Generic Host Win
32 is trying to access the internet. Do we know what this
is and should I allow it to access?
Thanks

Yes and yes. svchost.exe runs several network services and hides what
those are, but they include network time service (UDP 123) and RPC
service (TCP 135) as well as TCP 1025. There may be other ports and
instances of svchost.exe up to four or five in number.

One of the more common things that will try to get past
your firewall from the generic host is DNS client lookups.
You really need to look at the fine print in the block info
and make decisions based on that. For example, the DNS
client will be wanting to go to a DNS server IP on port 53.
