generic host process for win32

Dear Friends,

Whenever I start my IBM laptop, the first thing I do is connect
Internet through VData card. The laptop starts, Internet connects,
everything works well but 5-10 mins later, I get an error: generic
host process for win32 services has encountered problem and needs to
close, immediately after that Internet stops working. When I click on
Disconnect to disconnect the Internet, it says "disconnecting the
network failed!" and I have to close it without disconnecting.

When I then try to connect internet, it just doesn't allow me to
connect. It ssys "The modem (or other connecting device) is already in
use or is not configured properly" & then says "Connection Failed!".
OR "The connection is already being dialed". I think the laptop thinks
that Internet is already connected because of which it doesn't allow
me to connect again but actually it is not as Internet doesn't work.
Is there a way to disconnect the Internet without clicking on
Disconnect from the software? Everything is happenning because or the
generic host error. After one restart, all works fine but again the
same thing starts after 5-10 mins.

This problem started two days ago when I started getting few errors on
startup like:
vcrt80.exe is personalizing your settings
vcrt80.exe & maildisp.exe used to show up everytime in tasklist.

I deleted both the files and removed its registy entries. Now both the
items have disappeared from the tasklist but it did not resolve my
problem.

It creates a WER6371.dir00 directory under the temp folder, the
numbers WERxxxx are always different. In this directory there are four
files:
appcompat.txt 16kb
manifext.txt 2kb
svchost.exe.hdmp 23175kb
svchost.exe.mdmp 188kb

I ran updated virus scan, checked for spyware/malware. Nothing found.

Can somebody help please?

Here are the contents of the above files:

use or is not configured properly" & then says "Connection Failed!".

======================

Use System Restore to take your machine back by three or four days.

One of the website instructions told me to switch off system restore
before scanning the system. Now there are no restore points.

My laptop is still working, internet works too... but when I get an
error: "generic host process for win32 services has encountered
problem and needs to close, immediately after that Internet stops
working." internet stops, I can't disconnect but when I restart, all
works fine but again the same thing happens after some time.

Its kind of a loop that has happened. Please help

Sorry, I am not familiar with this particular problem. Furthermore I would
treat a website with great suspicion if it told me to turn off System
Restore. You are now paying the price for this bad advice - System Restore
could probably repair your system in a matter of minutes. Note also that the
file "vcrt80.exe" is most likely malware. You may have to re-install
Windows.
