That's exactly what I was going to say - you took the words
right..............

Doing a quick Google leads here as a start.

There are others - happy reading.
You should have asked 'how do I make your Caps work in 98'
And 'how can I insert punctuation so others can read what I write'

Or perhaps "How do I actually spell the word 'Hi' so that I don't look like
I'm trying to caption a cat picture?"

Well, start with the underlying engine. Win98x sits atop DOS.

There is no DOS in XP, the down-in-the-weeds kernal is based on NT, a
completely different concept.

The two are different critters that, while they accomplish similar tasks,
are fundamentally, physically as different as a gun and a spear.

There are literally thousands of differences, great and small; some you
notice, many you don't.

MS has such a description if you search for it. Basically, XP can be made
to look a lot like 98 with exceptions of course. It's not a steep learning
curve to make the switch. Some things are rearranged on screen but most
everything will appear familiar, especially if you set XP to "Classic" mode.
