I was updating my bios on my Gateway Laptop M500, but while
updating the power went out so the update did not finish. Now, my
laptop
turns on, but stays with a black screen. So, my bios settings need to
be
reset. Do you have any information on how reset my bios?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated....

If the power went out when the bios was being updated, you can't recover the
system. You will need to contact Gateway (and hope they take pity on you if
the machine is in warranty and they didn't tell you to flash the bios) and
pay to have the bios rebuilt. A failed bios flash is almost always fatal to
the computer until the proper bios program is reloaded onto the eprom.

What you have effectively done is removed/corrupted the program that tells
the computer how to turn on.

In the future: If you ever flash any bios, be it motherboard, CD drive,
camera, etc. always make sure that you will not lose power while doing the
flash. Always have a computer (laptop or desktop) plugged into a properly
working and tested uninterruptable power supply and never attempt to flash
on laptop's battery power alone.

You are gonna have to get the BIOS factory Progarmmed for that systemboard.
From Gateway.
If it is a removable BIOS Chip, then you might have Gateway send you a new
chip or else if it is soldered to the systemboard you are screwed!
