games won't install

I see similar things through these messages, but not identical. Ever since upgrading to XP Pro, installation of software has been a difficulty & games are the worst. I am the only user & the administrator, & log on as such (as far as I can tell). When trying to install a Win95/98 game, it just sits there. The hourglass comes up for a while, then goes away. No error msg, nothing, but the game did not install, or, the beginning of it did, but it didn't finish. I've tried all the compatibility approaches. I Also tried installing them in my son's computer (XP Home), & they went right in & work fine. An enigma.

Try disabling your antivirus while you are trying to install the game..
Make sure the reable it once the game installs..

Also, I forgot, close/exit all that you can that is running in my systray,
anything near the clock.
They should come back when you reboot.

the program compatible wizard shall help you run a program.
heres the place for it C:\Documents and Settings\Default\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories
then click the program. then you are there

I've tried disabling all start-up items including anti-virus, & I've tried running the install in compatibility mode. It makes no difference. The hourglass comes up for about 15 seconds & just sits there, then goes back to a pointer & nothing has installed. I've also cleaned the registry, & that didn't help either. Thanks for trying!
