Do those games even attempt to utilize a joystick? I suspect not.
Most fps's (first person shooters) and the like, it's solely keyboard and
mouse. If you want to play those kind of games, that's the way they're
designed ... so ... bite the bullet and learn to keep that mouse pointer
under control when in panic mode
Your best chance is (if it's supplied) to use the "button/axis remapping
software" that came with the joystick. Usually this allows one to setup
"move joy left = mouse mouse left", "button1 down = left mouse down", etc.
etc. and other "features".
I think you'll find that even if you can get your joystick working
satisfactorly, you'll never be able to as precisely (e.g. stop right on that
exact spot) respond with a joystick compared to a mouse.
