i recently bought an older game called Darkstone which was made by Mindscape in 1999 and i cant get it to work with xp. i cant run the compatibility wizard because my computer wont even acknowledge that there is anything on the cd. I know the cd works fine as i have tested it on a different computer, I am not having any other problems with my cd rom so i dont think that is the cause so the only thing i can think is that it doesnt like xp. Can anybody help me

Greetings,

You Windows XP operating system should be able to read the CD even though it
consits of an old game which was developed before the release of Windows XP.
Have you tried cleaning the CD just to make sure it isn't corrupt or dirty
:)

Thanks and best of luck!

I had a similar problem, and solved it by manually
entering the path d:\ with the name of the executable
file. But, now I don't really like the way it runs with
the compatibilty and don't seem able to remove it.
Anything I read seems to say that compatibilty applied to
a cd should be discontinued when the game is exited, but
this dosen't seem to be happening.

Good luck running your game!
