Game Compatibility problem

i have Darkstone a game that was made in 1999 by microscope that i cant get to run in xp. the disk isnt even recognised as having anything on it so i cant run the compatibility wizard. there is nothing wrong with the disk as it works on an older pc running windows me.Is it a cd rom problem or just xp. Can anybody help me
