Full screen optimal resolution.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8100, Windows XP 5.1.2600, DirectX 8.1(I'm hesitant about getting 9.x just yet), and an nVidia GeForce 2 Go with what looks like the 6.14.4482 drivers. Everytime I attempt to go full screen with a game, or some other app that takes over the video in full screen mode, it complains saying I have selected a non-optimal Screen Resolution for my display panel and that I need to have it at 1400 x 1050. Well, looking in the display settings shows it at 1400 x 1050 but I continue to get a rejection by Pinball, or any other game that attempts a full screen display. Can anyone help?

Pinbal will complain about 16 or 32-bit colour. It wants
256 colours (That's now the MS version) So don't see that
as an error. 1400 x 1050 is a non-standard setting. Try
1024 x 768 x 32bit and see what happens. And while you're
there check your refresh rate.

Problem is that the Inspirons are a notebook computer, and 1400 x 1050 is the setting it wants. The refresh rate is fixed, so I can't play with that. I can still try a different resolution, but all it does is make the display smaller than the screen. I'll try at Dell. Thanks anyway. I'll still check back if you care to respond
