I have a Compaq Presario desktop computer, 2.6 GHz with WindowsXP Home
Edition. I just bought an Acer 20-inch Flat panel active-matrix TFT LCD
monitor. It says the max resolution is 1680 x 1050 @75Hz. Yet I get some
programs in VERY small print, and some in somewhat normal fonts. When I go
to the Control Panel Display Settings it shows that the Screen Resolution is
set at 1680 x 1050. Then when you click Advanced, and then Monitor, it shows
the screen refresh rate at 60Hz, and no other choices. Is there anyway I can
get everything back to normal resolution?

Switch the power off ( on the monitor ) , and then switch back on
after 10 seconds .

You've got an underfeatured video driver there. Every one I've ever had
had a tab with a DPI option when I clicked that "Advanced" button. the
DPI option adjust the size of various things including the default font
sizes.

You might be able to make some adjustments on the "Appearance" tab of
the "Display Properties" pop-up (right click the desktop or select from
the Control Panel).

Have you checked your video accelerator driver version against those
available through Compaq? Does the computer have a OS wipe and reinstall
in its history. Perhaps it's using a generic video accelerator driver
instead of one that takes proper advantage of the hardware.
