FTP doesn't work with ICS

Here is the situation:
I have a machine that is running Windows XP Home edition. I have another
machine that is running Win 89. The WinXP machine was configured to access
the internet VIA DSL through an ethernet connection to a DSL modem. All had
been working fine until I made some changes over Christmas.

I added another ethernet card and connected the WIN98 machine to the XP
machine thru a switch/hub. I then enabled ICS on the WinXP machine. Now,
the internet is able to be accessed just fine for most things by both
machines. FTP is not one of those things. I cannot access an FTP site thru
any program that I try unless I shutdown ICS.

There must be a way that I can configure this ICS so that it will not
interfere with the connections. If the request is made to access then I
don't want ICS to block it. That is what the firewall software is for.

PS. The firewall is not the problem. I unload it and still can't access
until I bring ICS down.

I am assuming that your DSL modem is a DSL modem/router.
If this is the case then the modem DHCP server is being
overridden by the ICS. It might be better to run the DSL
link straight into the switch and then link both machines
also to the switch. This way the modem/router will assign
both of the PC's ip addresses without ICS interfering. I
run this setup and can use FTP without any problems. Also
make sure if it is a modem/router that port forwarding is
setup for the machine if you are using a FTP server.

Hope this helps
