Frustrated Browsing with Vista!!!!!

I just got my new machine, with Vista, yesterday.

I have found browsing to be a very hit and miss experience: completely
innocuous websites were being blocked, while access to more unsavoury sites
were no problem (purely in the interests of technological inquiry, you
understand....).

I contacted my vendor who helped me modify some settings on IE7, as well as
turning off the Windows firewall - which is now back on. Everything appeared
to be OK. Then when I cam back to my machine after a break I found that I
couldn't get to my usual homepage. I knew the page was up because I could
access it from my company laptop, which sits beside my home desk top.

For a time I could not access Hotmail.

I suppose my question is: how can I set Vista so that it lets IE7 behave as
it did on XP? By this I mean that it treats me and my family as responsible
law-abiding adults (which all four of us are).

I used IE7 on XP without any hassle whatsoever.

Please provide some examples of sites that are not operational for you.

Tried them all and use at least 3 of them everyday - absolutely no problems
at all, on any of my Vista machines (Ultimate x86 and x64,Business x86 and
Home Premium x86)
Exactly what errors are you getting etc.

Blocked is not the same as limited-functioning.
I go to bbc.co.uk almost daily to read
the news. I have no Flash installed and don't
remember ever seeing a "Get the Plugin"
puzzle piece icon there.

It is at it again! Was using BBC all afternoon. Now it won't let me get to
it!

This OS is slightly underdone.................. when is a fix / patch likely
to emerge?

It's far more likely that it's a problem with the site, your ISP, your
security software or your settings.

I wouldn't expect a fix/patch from MS for the BBC website.

There is nothing wrong with the BBC site it works fine on Vista IE 7, it
must be a setting on YOUR PC.

I would run an antivirus scan on your computer, try accessing the sites in a
different account or browser on your computer. Try right clicking Internet
Explorer in the Quick Launch bar and click 'Run as Administrator'. If that
does work, try resetting your Internet Explorer settings. Click Start > type
Internet Options > open it > click 'Advanced' (tab) > under 'Reset Internet
Explorer settings' click 'Reset' > OK.
