Frontpage 2003 or Publisher 2003

Which one should I use for a bussiness? I am not familiar with Publisher. I
am familiar with FrontPage. What kind of support is needed on the server
side for a web ? cgi? etc. Any info or a link to some info appreciated.

Hi,

FP would be used to maintain a web site. Publisher would be used to create publication for distribution, etc.

As for support needed, it depends upon what you need / want to do.

Do not use FrontPage for printed publications.
Do not use Publisher for web pages.
Use the tool designed for the job.

Server side support required will vary between nothing at all, up to
database server, ASP, .NET, PHP, Perl.....the list goes on - depends on your
requirements for the web.

For a simple feedback form handler, FrontPage extensions will be sufficient.
For an interactive, database driven website you will need more. The
specifics are related to the server operating system and your application
requirements.

wise choice, Frontpage - MS Publisher is not a web editor.

Frontpage has "server extensions" - they will be needed to make use of most of
the functionality in FP. Also better is a Windows NT/2000/2003 server and
ASP/Access database/mysql for database solutions.

if you want cgi/perl Unix is best but the server extension support on unix is
limited.

the idea of the server extensions is to do away with third party products like
mail-form handlers since this is built into the frontpage server extensions.
