I just installed XP on a known working 500Mhz machine.
On every other boot-up the system locks up at startup.
I get the desktop, and the mouse and keyboard are frozen.

All the service packs and updates have been installed.

Any ideas?

TIA

Boot to safe mode a couple of three times. If it works, then in theory,
its time to look for a driver or sticky background app problem.

I do not see anything there that is likely to. But advice to disable
Virtual Memory is exceedingly bad and needs to be removed, together
with advice to disable System Restore
