Freeze withloading System services

When I boot up system freezes after windows start up
window/Screen black. Can boot to safe mode. In msconfig
start with sys.ini and win.ini, but freezes when System
services checked. Error log gives VSS error. Sometimes
blue screen with Sys32 config/software log entry not
valid. Tried repair ing XP following Q315341 protocol,
system came up, but with error when starting media palyer;
looked for udate clicked install asked for reboot and was
right back where I started with freeze/black screen
following Windows load page.
