Freeze-Ups

I recently installed a cordless fiber-optic mouse which
subsequently didn't work too well. Since then my computer
freezes-up all the time. The "freezes" last 10-15
seconds. I've since uninstalled my new mouse and gone
back to using the old one, but the freezing-up continues.
I also now have to click on something many times with the
mouse before it finally opens up or performs the necessary
function. I've checked and everything that is supposed to
be is thoroughly uninstalled, so that's not the problem.
Any suggestions, PLEASE?

Even though you uninstalled the mouse it may have left something behind. Do
the freezes still happen in Safe Mode? If not then there's still probably
something it's loading from the registry. To see, click Start, click Run,
type Regedit, and then click OK. Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Open the Run key and note the entries on the right-hand pane. I suspect
you'll find something related to your old cordless mouse there and if you do
you can delete it. Just be sure to backup this registry key just in case.
