FP2003 - publishing modified file

T

Tom

I have modified a file in my local site and published to the remote site. I
see a successful publish note and a new 'modified date' on the file in the
remote site. Problem is when I go the remote site, the old (unmodified) page
is still there.

Thanks

Are you viewing the page in a browser or in FrontPage?

If in a browser, clear the browser cache (temporary files) or refresh
the page. Some ISPs and hosts may cache the page for a while before
showing the new version - AOL, for example, will cache pages for up to
48 hours before reloading their proxy server with the latest version of
the page.

Thank you - I deleted my browser cache but still don't see updates on the
HTTP web. Front Page show the remote site was modified and matches my local
site where I did the modification. Any ideas?

Thanks

As I said, sometimes your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or even your
WPP (Web Presence Provider or Host) will cache pages in a proxy server.
One way to break through this is to use a dynamic link to the page, for
example:

http://www.example.com/pagename.htm? Note that the ? is NOT a typo,
but part of the URL. Adding the ? to the address in the browser address
bar usually breaks through any caches your ISP may have in place.
