FP slow to upload and download

I'm using FP2003 on a WinXP workstation (all current patches installed on
both) and I have been having a lot of trouble with slow file uploads and
downloads. Really, really slow. Also my Remote Web site view does not display
all of the files and directories that are there. I contacted my Hosting
company and they reinstalled the FP Server extensions on their end but the
problem reappeared after a few sessions. I reinstalled FP2003 but to no
avail. I contacted the hosting company again and they said that "there is a
known issue with FP2003 that MS doesn't talk about."

I tried using the FTP connection and the problem went away but I lost some
FP functionality. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Actually we talk about it all the time...some hosts just don't understand how to properly admin FP...anyway. Your host may not have updated extensions and patches.

There are some folders that you will not see because you shouldn't mess with them.

Your problem most likely is that you're wacking (breaking) the FP extensions by using FTP.

Did you create a Web first on your local machine then Publish it up to the server?

Thanks for replying. I created the site in FP 2003 first and then "published"
it to the Host server. I'm aware of the FTP'ing situation and did not use FTP
until I was at wit's end. It sounds like the Server Extensions are corrupted
even though my Hosting company, Hostway, assured me that they had reloaded
the extensions. Interestingly enough the problem does not exist when I use FP
2002, just FP 2003. Unfortunately I just upgraded my other workstation to FP
2003, thinking that maybe uploading to the server with two versions of FP
might have caused the problem.

What do you think? Outdated FP Server Extensions on the Hostway server?

I kinda don't think two different versions of FP would cause a problem...but I'm not an extensions guru. I'd have them redo the extensions again, then try accessing with FP2002..don't do anything just see if you can get on, then do the same with FP2003.

If you have any individual files over 1 meg ... there is a known issue with that.
