FP limit of 1GB and no more than 1000 files - is this true?

Hi,

In response to a support question I fired off to my web host I was told that
FrontPage is intended for sites with a total size of approximately 1GB and no
more than 1000 files, and that if I want to upload anything more than that I
should use an FTP client such as SmartFTP.

Is this true?

Many thanks in advance for any insights!

Nonsense
However for large webs to improve performance it is recommended to break the root web up into smaller subwebs (unlimited)

In theory there is no limit to the number of files., or total size of
website, that *FrontPage* can manage. However, some systems do have
limits, especially web servers that impose time limitations on
processing web requests. This will include the "Recalculate Hyperlinks"
command (seen as "Processing Web Updates") on the server that
automatically follows every publish.
It is a good idea to break the web into subwebs, where each subweb can
be published individually, and thus considerably reduce the processing
load on the server. Each subweb is an independent web, so any size
limitation will apply to each subweb, independently of the others.

Note that since a subweb is an independent web, you will have to create
and apply navigation, themes, include files, shared borders, or DWTs for
each subweb.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't get a "processing web updates" message. All I get after a wait when
nothing seems to be happening is a dialog box saying:

The server "" timed out. The current request did not complete successfully.

I'm loath to break my site (www.aaltenvoogd.com) into subwebs as I'd like to
continue to manage it as a single entity. I do have a lot of individual pages
and links though - each page is a separate html file.

Would be grateful for any further insights/suggestions as I'm rather stuck!

Many thanks,

Stefan

This post got my intrest as I have a site thats getting rather bulky and
have been considering spliting it up.

I havent a clue as to how to split up a site. Is there any simple step by
step FP instruction anywhere ?
