Foxmail question

I have just installed Foxmail, and right away I am frustrated by
not being able to figure out something fundamental with it.

It concerns the compose messages part of the program.

I look for the kind of setting I am used to: "hard breaks at column x."
I cannot find it.

The only related talk I could find in the help file was this:

"Auto Indent:
When the line is full, users do not need to press Enter to
change to another line.

"Word Wrap:
Place curser in anyplace of compose box by clicking mouse."

The above is rather cryptic. I could try variations of these two options
out, send test messages to myself, tediously. Well, actually I am in the
middle of hassling through that...

But I'm hoping that I get lucky with an answer here first. That someone
will translate for me what I want -- "hard breaks at column X" (on compose,
not on send, btw) -- into Foxmail settings.

Or, if this program doesn't even do that, and is strictly some kind of OE
html thing, to please let me know, so I can uninstall and not waste more
time.

Tried testing sends with combinations of the few available options
on this. Following is best I could come up with for conclusions on
this:

- "Auto Indent", that only means that it will indent from one's text from
left column, same as if a tab.

- "Word Wrap", that's just view settings, does not add breaks.

- To have breaks at right column, it requires manually hitting enter at
the end of each line.

Manually hitting enter is a Problem. Especially since that activity requires
a type of guessing, one which becomes quite problematic if switching amongst
different window sizes, or view-fonts, or resolutions, or monitors, etc.

So, unless and until someone can enlighten me differently regarding Foxmail
configuration options, that I've overlooked a way to set it up -- I have
to say that Foxmail is lacking in a fundamental and essential area.

Too bad, as first glance about the rest of the program, I felt good about.

But it is not functional as stands. If this is just something not yet
developed, I can then keep an watch for new versions. On the other hand,
if it's a dreadful sort of philosophical thing, like punishing the
"traditionalists" who send in ascii + w\ hard breaks, then adieu forever
to this one. :(

Omega,

I like to be able to specify a character number for breaks too. I use 72
just in case.

However, with sizable windows and automatic word wrap, it hardly matters any
more.

hi,

just a small "tip" :
you can also swap to html mode, resize compose windows to have around
72 chars per line and swap again to text mode !
CR/LF will be inserted at the end of all lines ;-)
