found new hardware wizard

I have a toshiba satellite 1110 laptop and I have had
several problems with the found new hardware function in
XP home edition. My wife is also using the same software
and hardware components without problem on her packard
bell Imedia. When I try to install new components through
pcmcia or usb the new hardware wizard comes to life but
fails to acknowledge the hardware (logitech usb headphones
and optical mouse, lexar jumpdrive). The same thing
happens with pcmcia cards. belkin network card failed to
be recognised. Does anyone know if there is a workaround
or a registry tweak that will clear this problem?

Maybe some of the windows drivers have been corrupted. Go to command prompt
and type sfc /scannow which should scan your disk and fix any corruption.
