Hi Brian,

This problem can occur when the printer driver is initially installed.
The printer installation program from the manufacturer does not enable
the NewHardware Wizard to finish its detection of the newly installed
printer.

To work around this problem, enable the New Hardware Wizard to finish,
even though the wizard cannot detect a new printer.

Good luck

I've had the exact same problem with my Lexmark...I've already reviewed the
article that Roger posted & was going to fix it in the registry. I found the
area they were talking about, but I didn't have the same key. Strange...so I
guess I'll have to go through the whole damn thing. Oh well.

I have the same problem, except when I try to delete the registry key, it
says error occured while deleting it. Any suggestions on this problem? well
besides throwing away the lexmark and buying a different brand? lol

Its July 2005. I have the same problem with my Lexmark printer. I am
running XP Service Pack 1 on an HP system. The Found New Hardware Wizard
keeps popping up and a box saying it would not find the software to install.
I have already installed the printer and it is working!! I went to Q298370
and removed the LPTENUM entry from the Windows Registry and the problem still
continues. Can anyone help????

Yes, it been a while and the message has not popped up but I can't remember
all the details. But what I did find was that there were some devices in the
device manager that were flagged with "question marks". When I deleted these
(some of which related to the Lexmark printer) the problem disappeared. To
get to these in Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2,, do the following:
Start, Right Click on My Computer, Left Click on Properties, Left Click on
the Hardware Tab, Left Click on the Device Manager Tab under the Device
Manager. Expand each item if necessary and delete any items that have a
yellow question mark. These are devices that have not been completely
installed or unstalled. Then get out and reboot. Hopefully, there will be
no more "Found New Hardware Wizard" messages. You will also need to
reinstall your printer at this time. Good luck!!!
