Forwarding e-mail through Exchange

I have just installed Outlook 2003 on my computer at work. We have internal
e-mail through Miscrosoft Exchange and Internet email through POP3. When I
try to forward an e-mail that I received through the POP account to and
internal co-worker, the operation times out and will not forward the e-mail.
It continues to try and forward this e-mail and continues to time out. I
have to go into my outbox and cancel the send/receive and then delete the
forwarding e-mail in order to send other e-mails out.

Please help
