using rule & alerts can I auto forward an e-mail to a phone?

I have Office 2003 and 2007 - I have created rules & alerts to auto-forward
e-mails to a distribution list - in the distribution list I have e-mail
contacts and phone contacts. The users with the e-mails are receiving the
forwarded e-mails with no problems. The users with the phone contacts are not
getting the forwarded e-mails. Can Auto-forward forward e-mails to phones?

If the phone has an email address, sure, that should work. I can forward to
my cell phone as an SMS message using "(phone (e-mail address removed)",
though it loses all formatting and is subject to SMS message size limits.

Thanks for your help Hal -

The phone numbers have email addresses i.e phone (e-mail address removed) - with
the auto-forward enabled these phone numbers are not receiving the email.
