Forwarding Calendar item

Outlook 2007, mail format set to plain text. When I forward a calendar item
to a Thunderbird user, that user receives it as a winmail.dat attachment.
All other types of attachment are received as they should be.
Can anyone suggest a reason for this?

Do you have the iCalendar option selected here: Tools menu > Options >
Calendar?

do other attachments arrive correctly to that user? if not, verify the
address is not marked to always receive rtf by opening his contact and
double clicking on the address.

as I said in my original post, all other attachments arrive perfectly
normally (word, excel, powerpoint)

Hmmm, maybe it's because you're forwarding an Outlook object not inviting
the user. If you invite the user to a new meeting, does it work better?

That seems ok - however the object of the exercise is to send the calendar
item to the Thunderbird Recipient in order for him to copy it into his
calendar....

It this person in your Contacts? If so, open the person's contact record
and double-click the E-mail address. Examine the "Internet format"
drop-down at the bottom. If it says "Always use Rich Text", change it to
"Let Outlook decide..."
